아흔아홉의 노래
아흔아홉이 되니 몸에서 해방되고
아흔아홉이 되니 정신에서 해방되고
아흔아홉이 되니 돈에서 해방되었네.
아흔아홉이 되니 흔들리지 않아
아흔아홉이 되면 고립사도 좋고
아흔아홉을 돌아 고독사도 좋네.
아흔아홉을 먹어 월정사 갔더니
아흔아홉을 먹은 동년배 스님
아흔아홉번 돌며 탑돌이 하네.
아흔아홉을 같이 탑돌이 하며
아흔아홉번 웃고 웃으며 또 웃었네.
아흔아홉살 먹은 오대산 전나무도
아흔아홉의 세월 무심히 견디는데
아흔아홉의 윤회 끝없는 자기반복
아흔아홉의 부활 끝없는 자기재생
아흔아홉의 악은 생존하게 하는 힘
아흔아홉의 선은 공존하게 하는 힘
아흔아홉의 수행 지성에서 꽃피우고
아흔아홉의 사랑 체험에서 자라나네.
아흔아홉의 인연 정보의 인드라망 속에서
아흔아홉의 운명 만나고 헤어지네.
아흔아홉의 노인 어서 사라져야
아흔아홉의 아기 어서 태어나네.
아흔아홉의 생명 모두 평화롭기를
아흔아홉의 기도 손 모아 발원하네.
“아흔아홉의 순리자여, 이왕 지구별에 소풍 왔으니
보물찾기까지는 해야 소풍 온 의미가 있지 않겠나?”
At ninety-nine,
freed from the body,
freed from the mind,
freed from money.
At ninety-nine, no longer shaken—
alone or in solitude, it is well.
At ninety-nine, I circled the pagoda
with a monk my age,
ninety-nine times we laughed and walked,
laughing again, and again.
Even the fir of Odaesan, aged ninety-nine,
endures the years without a word.
Ninety-nine—endless return,
endless renewal.
Its darkness fuels survival,
its light, coexistence.
Practice blooms into wisdom,
faith grows from lived truth.
In this net of fate and meeting,
we come and go.
When the ninety-nine-year-old vanishes,
the ninety-nine-day-old will be born.
Peace upon all lives of ninety-nine—
this is my prayer, my vow.
"O pilgrim of ninety-nine,
since you're here on this picnic called Earth,
shouldn’t you at least find a treasure or two?"
