국제인권단체인 '휴먼 라이트 와치(Human Right Watch)'의 EU국장 Lotte Leicht는 16일 UN의 발표를 인용하여 "미얀마에서 지난 2월 1일 군부 쿠데타가 발생한 이래 적어도 861명이 사망하고 수천 명이 부상 당했다. 정치인, 작가, 인권운동가, 교사, 의료인, 공무원, 언론인, 승려, 유명 인사 등 4800명 이상은 구금되었다"라고 밝혔다.
Since Feb 1 military coup in Myanmar:
- at least 861 have been killed
- thousands injured
- 4,800+ detained -incl politicians, authors, rights defenders, teachers, health-care workers, civil servants, journalists, monks, celebrities & others.
