비릿한 해무에 꽃잎 하나 열고
날 선 바람에 또 꽃잎 하나 열면
봄이 지나고 여름도 지나고
가을도 지나고 겨울도 소리 없이 가면
사철채송화 곱게 핀 바닷가 언덕 위에
계절도 지고 바람도 지고 사랑도 지네.
영원이라고 말하지 않는 묵호 바다에서
영원을 던져놓고 바다만 바라보았지.
나는 수천 겹의 생각을 벗고 나서야
바다가 주는 삶의 이유를 알았다네.
소리 없이 소리를 삼키는 법을 알았고
사랑 없이 사랑을 지키는 법을 알았네.
마음이 무뎌지면 질수록 삶은 기도가 되고
세상을 놓아주고 나니 비로소 세상이 보였다네.
In the Mist of Mukho
A petal blooms in the salty sea fog,
another opens to the blade of wind.
Spring passes, then summer, then fall—
even winter slips by without a sound.
On the seaside hill where portulaca flowers,
seasons fall, the wind fades, and love, too, lets go.
By the silent sea of Mukho,
which never speaks of eternity,
I cast eternity and simply watched.
Only after shedding a thousand thoughts
did I understand the sea's reason for life.
I learned how to swallow sound in silence,
and to guard love, even without love.
The duller my heart became,
the more life became a prayer.
And once I let the world go—
I finally saw it.
