달팽이에게 길을 묻다
낯선 길을 걸었지!
누군가 부르는 듯하여 돌아보는 순간
달팽이가 날아가고 있었어
달팽이는 나를 비웃으며
저 멀리 날아가 버렸어
순간, 나는 달팽이에게 속아
쥐고 있던 생각을 놓쳐 버렸지.
마음속 녹이는 잡념이 넘치는 세상
햇살은 나뭇가지를 타고 내려와
내 안의 문을 잠가 버리고
달팽이는 너무 멀리 날아가 보이지 않네.
넘어지고 깨지는 상처 없이
저 산을 넘어 달팽이를 만날 수 있을까.
I walked a strange path!
At the moment I turned around,
thinking someone had called my name,
a snail was flying through the air.
The snail laughed at me
and vanished far, far away.
In that instant, I was fooled by the snail—
and dropped the thoughts I had been holding.
In a world overflowing with distracting noise
that melts the mind from within,
sunlight slid down the branches
and quietly locked the door inside me.
The snail has flown so far
I can no longer see it.
Without falling, without breaking,
can I ever cross that mountain
and meet the snail again?
