마음이 흐르는 강
태풍이 몰아치면 동강으로 가자
미탄을 지나 어름치마을에 들어서면
고요하게 깃든 마음의 시간이 흐르고
바위틈에 숨은 동강할미꽃이 수줍게 피어
굽이굽이 흐르는 동강을 바라보고 있네.
뒤틀린 영혼은 저 강물에 떠내려 보내고
철벽을 친 외로움도 다 버리고 나면
살아서 빛나던 추억들도 달아나 버리네.
동강에서는 잊으려고 해도 잊히지 않는
다정한 종교도 저절로 잊어버리게 되고
냉정한 침묵도 저절로 사라지게 된다네
강기슭에 앉아 새우깡에 소주 한잔 마시면
인생이 별거더냐, 술처럼 쓰니까 인생이지
행복이 별거더냐, 술한잔 마시면 행복이지
동강이 흐르면 나도 흐르고 시간도 흐르네.

passing Mit'an, entering Eoreumchi village,
where the quiet time of the heart flows deep.
There, shy Donggang grandmother flowers
bloom tucked in rocky cracks,
gazing at the winding, flowing Donggang River.
Twisted souls are sent floating down the stream,
and loneliness behind iron walls is left behind.
Even the memories that once shone alive
slip away like shadows.
In Donggang,
even the kindest religions, though hard to forget,
fade gently away,
and cold silences vanish on their own.
Sit by the riverside,
sip soju with a handful of shrimp crackers—
What is life but a little bitterness,
like a glass of strong drink?
What is happiness but a sip of soju?
When Donggang flows,
I flow,
and time flows too.
When the typhoon rages,
