다정한 벗이 찾아와
낮게 나는 독수리의 날갯짓에
하나둘 별들이 깨어나고 있을 때
죽기 위해 태어났다는 다정한 벗이
바람처럼 찾아와 함께 밤을 보냈다네
사랑도 필요 없고 행복도 부질없다며
떠돌이가 되어 세상을 돌아다니다가
고독이라는 이름의 조미료에 중독된 벗은
무디고 무딘 세월을 다 보내고 말았다네
침묵도 언어라는 말을 우리는 이해하며
막걸릿잔에 코를 박고 소년처럼 웃었지
여름밤은 더디 가고 새벽은 쉬이 찾아오는데
우리는 술에 취해 세상도 잊고 시간도 잊었지
생각해 보니 잊기 위해 산다는 건 진리더군
우리를 불확실하게 하는 매력적인 시간과
얼마나 더 뒹굴고 놀면 흙밥이 될 수 있을지
다정한 벗과 나는 정답 없는 질문만 퍼부었다네

stirred the stars awake,

To live for forgetting—
that, I’ve learned, is truth.
How long must we tumble with time,
before we return to dust?

with no answers.
