삼류 명상가의 명랑한 아침
자두가 저절로 떨어지니
다 익은 줄 아는 참새가
즐겁게 아침 식사를 한다네.
생각이 저절로 떨어져 나갈 때
욕망이 더 이상 괴롭히지 않는다는 걸
자연이 자연스럽게 가르쳐 주네
노력하지 않아도 그냥 노력이 되고
사랑하지 않아도 그냥 사랑이 되네.
들꽃이 아침에 피고 저녁에 지듯이
새들이 아침에 울고 저녁에 웃듯이
태양이 아침에 피고 저녁에 지듯이
삶이란 자연의 일에 동참하는 것
자연과 하나가 되어 자연스러워지는 것
그윽한 마음을 내어 나를 씻어낸다네.
A plum falls on its own—
the sparrow knows it’s ripe
and dines in joy at dawn.
When thought falls away,
desire no longer wounds—
nature teaches this, gently.
Without striving, there is effort.
Without clinging, there is love.
As wildflowers bloom by morning,
fade by dusk,
as birds cry at dawn,
and laugh at night,
as the sun rises,
and sets—
so is life:
a quiet joining in
the work of nature.
Becoming one with it,
we become whole.
And in that stillness,
I offer my heart
to wash myself clean.
