늑골 아래에서 부는 바람
몸이 나를 점점 놓아주는 시간
늑골 아래에서 찬 바람이 부네
허상과 실상을 넘는 순간이므로
잠시 심장이 뛰기를 멈추고
잠시 생각도 의미를 거두네
하나둘 제자리를 잃어갈 때
존재가 알리는 첫 신호라네
이 신호는 늦게 오는 법이지만
늑골 아래 신은 죽고 나만 남았네
헐떡이는 짐승의 리듬이 들리고
멈추지 않는 피조물의 북소리가
불안의 그림자를 짙게 드리운다네
오, 나를 거두어들이는 떨림이여
오, 존재의 바닥을 흔드는 소리여
의지를 일으켜 눈을 번쩍 떠보니
늑골 아래 불던 바람이 사라지고
하찮은 감각이 서서히 깨어나고 있네
There comes a time

A cold wind rises beneath the ribs.

that bridges illusion and reality—

and thought withdraws its meaning.
When things begin
to lose their place,
this is the first sign
existence gives.
Though this sign is never early,
now, beneath the ribs,
the god has died—
and only I remain.
I hear the rhythm
of a panting beast,
the unceasing drumbeat
of the made and the mortal,
casting long shadows of unease.
O trembling that gathers me in,
O sound that shakes
the floor of being—
I rouse my will,
snap open my eyes—
the wind beneath the ribs has vanished.
And slowly,
the trivial senses
begin to stir once more.
