태풍으로 지붕이 날아가고 나무들이 뿌리째 뽑히는가 하면, 42군데에서 산사태가 나고 많은 지역이 물에 잠겼다. 망쿳은 시속 185km의 강풍을 동반한 채 루손섬 북부를 동에서 서로 가로질러 휩쓸고 있다.
루손섬에는 500만 명이 태풍의 진로 속에 놓여 있으며, 수천 명에게 대피령이 내려졌다.

Fourteen people were killed in a strong typhoon that hit the northern Philippines, according to the BBC News. Typhoon Mangkhut passed through the island of Luzon in the Philippines and is now advancing toward China.
The typhoon blew away many roofs and trees were uprooted. There were 42 landslides and many areas flooded. The Mangkhut sweeps across the northern part of Luzon Island from east to west with winds of 185 kilometers per hour.
Five million people were laid in the path of the typhoon, and thousands were ordered to evacuate.
