The chicken and the hen
Yesterday in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, we met up with Franz again, for the first time since Pamplona. Franz has been steaming ahead of us, but had a rest day here in Santo Domingo.
He showed me, Jade, George and Osi around the cathedral where the famous hen and chicken coop lies within.

병아리와 암탉
어제 산토도밍고 데 라 칼자다(Santo Domingo de la Calzada)에서 우리는 프란츠를 다시 만났다. 그와 팜플로냐에서 헤어진 후 처음이다. 그는 속도를 내어 앞서갔지만, 산토 도밍고에서 하루 쉬고 있었다. 그는 유명한 병아리와 암탉의 닭장이 있는 성당 주변에서 나와 제이드, 죠지 그리고 오시를 만났다.
Legend goes that Santo Domingo performed a miracle to save the innocence of a poor pilgrim boy, sentenced to death, by making a roasted hen come to life and fly off the plate it lay on.
전설에 의하면 산토 도밍고 성당은 사형선고를 받은 어느 죄 없는 가난한 순례자 소년을 구해기 위해 기적을 행사했다고 한다. 접시에 담긴 튀긴 암탉을 살려내어 날아가게 했다는 것이다.
More sightseeing of this beautiful town was curtailed because of rain, so we ran for cover to a local bar where we sat and put the world to rights over a lovely bottle of Rioja!
비로 인하여 아름다운 시내 관광은 중단되고 우리는 비를 피해 동네 선술집에 들어가서 리오하 와인 한 병을 놓고 더 나은 세상을 위해 모여 앉았다.
After Franz had so kindly invited me for in dinner in Pamplona, I wanted to reciprocate. He had researched well and we ate like king and queen rather than pilgrim this night. Curfew at the albergue was 9:30pm and I was grateful to the smokers who were still at the door to allow me in a couple of minutes beyond the deadline.
프란츠가 팜플로냐에서 아주 친절하게 나를 초대한 후 나도 한 번 저녁을 사기로 했다. 그는 현지 조사를 잘 했고 우리는 왕이나 여왕보다 더한 순례자의 만찬을 즐겼다. 알베르게 숙소의 통금 시간은 9시 30분인데 숙소 입구에서 담배를 피며 얼쩡대고 있는 사람들 덕분에 그 시간을 몇 분 지나서도 숙소에 들어갈 수가 있었다.
