우크라이나 사태를 놓고 미러 정상이 담판을 벌였으나 사실상 해결책을 찾지 몬한 것으로 알려진 가운데인 13일 백악관이 성명을 발표했다. 이날 백악관은 "바이든 대통령은 오늘 블라디미르 푸틴 대통령과 회담을 갖고 러시아가 우크라이나를 침공할 경우 미국과 우리 동맹국들이 러시아에 신속하고 심각한 대가를 치르게 할 것임을 분명히 했다. 바이든 대통령은 푸틴 대통령에게 긴장 고조를 그만두고 외교적 해결에 나설 것을 촉구했다.
