우리나라 시간으로 3월 7일 유엔은 대변인 성명을 통하여 북한에 대한 긴급한 인도적 지원이 필요하다고 말했다.
"유엔은 오늘 북한의 380만 주민에 대해 1억 2,000만 달러의 긴급지원을 해줄 것을 요청했다. 전체 인구의 40%(약 1,100만 명)가 넘는 사람들이 영양 식품과 깨끗한 마실 물 등이 부족하고 기본적인 서비스에 접근이 어렵다."라고 스테판 두자릭 대변인이 밝혔다.
