트럼프 미국 대통령은 12일 (현지 시간) 자신의 트위터를 통하여, "나는 북한의 김정은과 개인적 관계가 매우 좋으며(very good), 아마도 훌륭하다(excellent)는 용어가 훨씬 더 정확할 것이고, 우리가 각자 어떤 입장을 취하고 있는지를 충분히 이해한다는 점에서 제3차 정상회담이 좋을 것이라는 데 동의한다.
북한은 김 위원장의 주도 아래 비범한 성장, 경제 성공, 부에 대한 엄청난 잠재력을 갖고 있다. 머지않아 핵무기와 제재가 제거될 수 있는 날이 오기를 고대한다. 그 다음 북한이 세계에서 가장 성공적인 국가 중 하나가 되는 것을 지켜보는 날이 오기를 기대한다!"라고 밝혔다.
