Hurdles and pain

The road from Hontanas

Am a couple of days behind on my blogging news…  Hard to catch up when there’s so much to do! I will try my best in the coming days.

But everything is on hold for the moment, including further walking, as I was struck down this afternoon with a violent vomiting bug. Started off innocuously enough, with a mild sensation of queasiness this morning, but by the time we stopped for lunch, I was having to go to the bathroom and dispense with my breakfast…the best Camino one I’d had to date!

As lunch continued and I tried to force a mouthful of pizza down, I realised that I just couldn’t face walking further. I asked for a room, which they had available. I knew I needed my own bed and bathroom just then. Vomiting in a shared dorm is a no go.

I couldn’t get to my room fast enough. In fact I grabbed the key and did the official check-in some three hours later, after many more projectile outbreaks.

My lovely walking group have continued to the next village, and my hope is that I’ll feel better by morning and I’ll be able to catch them up by the evening in Sahagún. But all doors are open.
